A new solution for pavements with low levels of traffic has been selected in a conservation project named mahuidanche-misión inglesa, located in the ninth region of Chile. The new solution consists on an optimized concrete pavement which is paved directly under the existing gravel road, which leads to savings of granular base material. The design consists in a trapezoidal slab 9 and 11 cm thick.
